Welcome to:

InterFaith World Evangelism

It all started when…

Eddie And Sharon LeGrand from Kentucky met a Pastor from Kenya named Rev. M. Ortega. They Started InterFaith World Evangelism to help support his work throughout Kenya.

Rev. Ortega and his son, Rev. Elijah , worked together to further the gospel. When Rev. Ortega passed away in 2017, Elijah continued ministering and IWE has continued to support his work for 18 years.

Sharon Legrand passed away in 2019 but Eddie and those who have come to know of Elijah’s ministry are continuing to support the work in Kenya.

Our Focus

Church Planting

In order to bring the gospel into a new community, IWE team members prepare for a six week evangelism outreach. Six different teams go into this village weekly for to evangelize and disciple to new believers.

 Empowering pastors

A new Pastor is trained for two years. When God calls him to a tribe and village, the trained pastor commits to live in the village for two years following the outreach. During this time He works with an assistant who is being trained to go to a new village after his two year internship.

Assisting the poor

Once IWE has entered a village or tribe, they look for opportunities to build up the community so it can reach its full potential. They want to see a “spiritual reformation” and see the community grow in its capacity to care for themselves effectively.

Educating the next generation

Shalom schools was founded in 2007 and has grown from two children to six hundred yearly students.

As of 2022, over three thousand children have been trained in the ways of the Lord and have graduated from eighth grade.

Peace between warring tribes

Each tribe has its own culture, dress and ways of doing agriculture. By presenting the gospel, these tribes can be united under the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
